Danish paper cut artist Torben Jarlstrøm Clausen has had over 900 participants of all ages take part in his paper cut workshops in Denmark, Japan, and the United States. His paper cut beings live burdened by life in the paper before he puts scissors to the paper. After he cuts them free, they move happily in our diverse world. Through his workshops, he strives to maintain and renew an age-old Danish paper cut tradition that has traditional roots. At the workshops, participants have the opportunity to put scissors to paper and redeem their very own paper cut beings. The participants experience the very best of cutting paper—namely the moment when the paper is unfolded and the magic occurs—that is when the happy paper cut being emerge. Torben Jarlstrøm Clausen lives in Odense, which is the birth town of the world-famous fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen, who was himself a very skilled paper cut artist.
