In 1913, Signe Aurell moved from Sweden to Minneapolis. She stayed for seven years before moving back to Sweden. While in the US, she published poetry, essays, and translations, all the while joining a thriving community of Swedish immigrants involved in a variety of social movements. In this joint presentation, singer songwriter Diane Jarvi will join Tjärnblom to perform songs and tunes from Swedish America. Dr. Marcus Cederström presents Signe Aurell’s story as part of a broader discussion on migration and finding (and creating) a home.
